Pick your scene
Inside The Night Detective: an armchair, a dartboard and a desk lamp in a tiny office

Scene 1 of 3

The Night Detective

He never closed his last case. The file is still open on the desk, the phone still waits on its cord, and the lamp stays on long after the street goes quiet.

Inside The Sorcerer's Shop: shelves of little boxes, brooms and a lit candle behind a green door

Scene 2 of 3

The Sorcerer's Shop

Nobody remembers the shop opening. One day it was just there, wands stacked to the ceiling, a broom by the door, and a candle that never seems to burn down.

Inside Sakura Rain: a little shop counter under lanterns and pink blossoms

Scene 3 of 3

Sakura Rain

Every spring the petals beat the rain to the street. The little shop keeps its lanterns lit for anyone walking home late.

Your four evenings

Most people take 6 to 10 hours, spread over a few evenings. Here is how the week tends to go.

  1. Evening 1

    Open the box.

The pieces come flat, with picture instructions. Make a cup of tea, lay it all out and start with the walls.

Flat wooden pieces and picture instructions on a table, hands at work
  2. Evening 2

    The room takes shape.

The floor goes down, the walls go up, and the first pieces of furniture find their places.

A half built tiny room standing on a table next to a cup of tea
  3. Evening 3

    The tiny things.

The tiny books, the lamp, the little details you'll stare at later. A pair of tweezers earns its keep tonight.

Close up of tiny books, a lamp and an armchair inside the detective office
  4. Evening 4

    Switch it on.

Slide it between two books, turn off the big light and flip the little switch.

How long does it take to build?

Most people take 6 to 10 hours, spread over a few evenings. There's no rush, so you can stop and pick it back up any time.

Is it hard?

It takes patience more than skill. The picture instructions go one small step at a time. The tiniest pieces are the only fiddly part, and a pair of tweezers makes them much easier.

What do I need?

Craft glue, tweezers, scissors or a craft knife, and batteries for the lights. Everything else is in the box: every wood, paper and fabric piece, all the tiny furniture you see, the LED lights and the instructions.

Are batteries included?

No. The LED lights are built in, but batteries are not included, so have some ready for the moment you switch it on.

How big is it?

The Night Detective is about 6.3 x 5.3 x 3.5 in. The Sorcerer's Shop is about 5.9 x 5.3 x 3.5 in. Sakura Rain is about 8.7 x 6.5 x 3.6 in. Each one slides between books on a standard shelf.

How long is shipping?

Shipping is free in the US with tracking. Orders ship in 1 to 2 business days and are delivered in 8 to 12 business days. Buying a Christmas gift? Order by Nov 30.

Can I order two different scenes?

Yes. Pick 2 kits and choose a scene for each. The second kit is 50% off automatically at checkout.

What if a piece is missing?

Write to us with a photo and your order number and we'll send it.

Is it for kids?

It's made for ages 14 and up. There are lots of small parts, so keep it away from little ones. Younger builders can help with an adult at the table.

Can I return it?

Yes. With The Nookwell Promise, unopened kits can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund. If your kit arrives damaged or isn't what you hoped, tell us within 30 days and we'll make it right with a replacement or a refund.
